The Manager of Global Development of the International Game Developers Association (IGDA) is responsible for overseeing the development of IGDA’s developer supporting programs around the world, including Chapters and Special Interest Groups (SIGs), mentorship programs, and other resources and efforts. 

The International Game Developers Association (IGDA) is the world’s largest nonprofit membership organization serving all individuals who create games. The mission of the IGDA is to support and empower game developers around the world in achieving fulfilling and sustainable careers.

As an international organization, the IGDA is a San Francisco, CA.-based 501(c)6 non-profit professional association and a global network of collaborative projects and communities of individuals from all fields of game development - including programmers and producers, designers and artists, as well as writers, business people, QA team members, localization experts, and everyone else who participates in any way in the game development process. The IGDA brings together developers at key industry conferences, and in over 150 Chapters and Special Interest Groups (SIGs), to improve their lives and their craft.

This six month contract position is remote and will require approximately 15-20 hours per week. Depending on the needs of the organization, the opportunity may be renewed or potentially expanded into full time employment.

Specific responsibilities of the IGDA Manager of Global Development include, but are not limited to:

  • Communication with IGDA members and volunteers worldwide to understand their needs and to make informed recommendations about the creation of programs to support them. 
  • Management and oversight of the IGDA Regional Coordinator and SIG Coordinator Programs, and IGDA’s Chapters and SIGs, including onboarding of new Chapters and SIGs, maintenance of volunteer records, and the creation and implementation of programs and resources to empower these groups and their leadership. 
  • Direction and execution of IGDA’s mentorship programs, including the Global Mentorship Program and Mentor Cafes. 
  • Attendance of monthly IGDA Board of Directors meetings to provide updates on the status of these programs.


A successful IGDA Manager of Global Development will have the following qualifications and skills: 

  • Passionate about supporting and developing game development communities. 
  • A thorough understanding of the various roles and disciplines within the game development industry.
  • Familiarity with the Microsoft Office Suite, Google Workspace, and Confluence. 
  • Ability to evaluate and use new software and tools. 
  • Proactive problem solver that is innovative and self-motivated with strong project management skills and the ability to effectively manage time.
  • Ability to stay organized, meet deadlines, balance priorities, and work well under pressure.
  • Ability to inspire, motivate, and bring out the best in others. 
  • Strong communication skills, including formal document creation and handling both professional and interpersonal communications across virtual, written, and in person formats. 
  • Responsive, empathetic, and attentive to others’ needs. 
  • Sensitive to world events and cultures, and able to understand and navigate their complexities by communicating clearly and politely. 
  • Experience with successful relationship development and conflict resolution, including gracefully handling complaints, managing collaboration amongst volunteer communities, and building greater collaboration with other game development programs and entities.
